2025 was one of those years where we barely had time to breathe. Which is exactly how we like it.
We released. We experimented. We pushed further into the strange corners of horror. And somewhere in between blood, laughter, fog, and late night exports, Sägen Film quietly leveled up. Here's all the deets about where we're at, and where we're going...! Enjoy!
Tiny Coffin
Our smallest coffin might have carried some of our biggest ambitions.
With Tiny Coffin, we sharpened the blade. Leaner. Meaner. More precise. A film that leans into atmosphere, tension, and that creeping feeling that something is very wrong but you can’t quite see it yet.
Now in 2026, we’re gearing up for its festival run. Submissions are underway, and we cannot wait to unleash this one onto audiences in dark cinemas where every breath matters. This film was built for that collective silence before the scream…
Produced by Emma Nordström over at MovEmotion, co-produced, written and directed by Sägen Film.
More to come as festivals respond.
Christmas Of The Dead
If Tiny Coffin was a whisper in the dark, Christmas Of The Dead was a chainsaw through a Christmas tree.
We went full splatter. Full chaos. Full Sägen.
Zombies, snow, absurdity, heart, and that very specific tone we love living in — where horror and comedy don’t fight each other but dance. It became one of our most ambitious productions to date and a reminder that we thrive when things get slightly out of control.
And honestly? We’d do it again.

Star Beast
Then there was Star Beast — our dive into something more cosmic, more otherworldly. A project that let us explore scale in a different way. Less folklore forest, more unknown terror from above.
The film travelled across Scandinavia, screening at festivals in Norway, Sweden and Denmark, meeting audiences beyond our local home turf.
And we’re incredibly proud to say it won Best Short Film in Halland — a milestone that means a lot to us as filmmakers rooted right here.
Each project in 2025 felt like a different limb of the same strange creature. And we’re learning how to control that creature better with every production.

2026: What’s Next?
The Final Howl
Later this year, we return to where it all began.
The final installment in our “The Wolf” trilogy is officially in development — and yes, we’ve secured funding from Region Halland. That support means a lot. It allows us to aim higher, go wilder, and give this trilogy the ending it deserves.
This one will be fun. Brutal. Slightly unhinged. A proper farewell howl.
More news very soon.
And Then… Something Bigger Emerges From The Depths
Perhaps the biggest milestone of all:
We completed the first draft of our very first feature film.
A very Swedish take on horror comedy. Rooted in our landscape, our tone, our awkwardness, our darkness, our humor. It feels like the natural next step for us — not abandoning our short film roots, but expanding the world.
It’s raw. It needs work. But it exists.
And that changes everything.
Early development has been funded by Varbergs kommun, so huge thanks to them!
Sägen Film has always been about momentum. About making instead of waiting. About building something strange in Halland and letting it echo outward.
Festivals. Final chapters. First features.
2026 is about sharpening the blade even further.
Stay close.
